Are you part of the government or DWP?
No. Alekows is an independent service. The government decides your claim and pays you. We help you apply correctly and deal with it in your language.
Who can get Universal Credit?
Usually people who live in the UK, are 18 or over, are under State Pension age and have £16,000 or less in savings. You can be working or not working. EU citizens may also need settled or pre-settled status.
How long until the first payment?
Usually around 5 weeks. If you need money before that, you can ask for an advance, and we can help with it.
Can I work and still get Universal Credit?
Yes. There is no limit on hours. For every £1 you earn, Universal Credit goes down by 55p, so working always leaves you better off.
